Information about Galenia Hospital


Thank you for choosing Galenia Hospital. We want to provide the highest quality in all our services, so that your stay with us is safe, pleasant and quiet. To that end, and so that order is maintained, for the benefit of our patients, we would inform the main rules of this institution.

PATIENT ADMISSION
 
The treating physician is responsible for booking the operating room. If you are coming from a doctor’s office, you will need to first go through the Emergency Room before hospitalization or before any surgical procedures are preformed.
To be admitted, please show the patient’s official identification and also that of a family member chosen to be the responsible party.
Sign the admission documents, giving informed consent for patient care to Galenia Hospital.

Upon being admitted to Galenia Hospital, the patient must leave a deposit of 5000 pesos; in the event of Surgery and / or Hospitalization 10,000 pesos; where intensive care (ICU) is needed 20,000 pesos; and if neurosurgery is needed 50,000 pesos, at the time of admission, regardless of existence of insurance coverage.

If there is no room availability, one will be assigned at 14:00 hours, or sooner if possible.

Maternity and surgery packages must be fully paid before hospitalization, and any extras, should they exist, must be paid at the time of discharge.
 
The rooms are for the exclusive use of the patient, for which, if the patient is moved to the ICU, the family members must vacate the room.

VISITING HOURS
Patient visiting hours are:                    from 9:00 am to 21:00 pm.
Visiting hours in The Intensive Care (ICU):    from 10:00 to 10:30 hrs.
17:00 to 17:30 hrs.
21:00 to 21:30 hrs.

Visiting Hours of the ICU Nursery are (NICU):  09:00 to 10:00 hrs.
                                               17:00 to 18:00 hrs.
                                               21:00 to 22:00 hrs.

IMPORTANT POINTS:
Please present the patient’s official identification and also that of the family member responsible at the time of admittance.  Sign the admission documents, giving informed consent for patient care to Galenia Hospital.
 
Upon admittance to Galenia Hospital, the patient must leave a deposit of 10,000 pesos. In case of Intensive Care (ICU) 20,000 pesos; if neurosurgery 50,000 pesos, regardless of the existence of insurance coverage.
 
Maternity and surgery packages must be fully paid before hospitalization, and any extras, should they exist, must be paid at the time of discharge.

If your surgery goes beyond the expected time or there are additional materials, medicines, and/or additional equipment not covered in the package, they will be charged according to listed prices.

Price quotes given by the treating physician in respect to hospital charges, WILL NOT BE RESPECTED.
 
In the Emergency Room, only ONE (1) person will be permitted to visit for thirty (30) minutes when given permission by the doctor.
 
For security reasons and for infection control in accordance with provisions of the S.S.A. we do not allow the entry of children under 12 years.

For hygiene, infection control and security according to S.S.A. it is important not to introduce food and drink to patient’s room. The relatives or companions may consume food in the cafeteria.

For the welfare of the patient, we do not allow more than three visitors inside the room at a time and only 1 visitor at a time maximum in the Intensive Care and The Emergency Room.

As an official regulation, smoking is prohibited in rooms and common areas of the Hospital. The only place it is allowed is located on the terrace of the cafeteria on the ground floor.

Galenia is not responsible for valuables which have not been deposited for safekeeping with administration.

Ask for your account balance at least one hour before discharge from Customer Service (Extension 135). Every patient must receive a departure pass from the cashier.

All materials and / or medications that are required for treating patients during their internment, will be provided by the hospital, it is strictly forbidden to bring material and / or any medicine into the hospital.

The departure time is 12:00 pm. If the room is not vacated before 12:00 pm, there will an extra half day charged if vacated before 18 hrs.,  after that it will be a full day.
 
The account must be paid in full every two days or when the amount exceeds $10,000.00 pesos.
 
The television remote control and network cable for the Internet, if requested, must be delivered to the cashier to liquidate the account and receive your departure pass, otherwise an additional fee will be added.
 
Upon being discharged from Galenia Hospital, as company policy, every patient will be transported in a wheelchair.

Recommendations:

We encourage families to stay in the room while the patient is in the operating rooms, and wait there to be provided with their family member’s medical information by the doctor either in person or by telephone.
 
Toasts and/or celebrations are not permitted in the rooms.

If you want to use electrical items in the room, you should consult with your charge nurse beforehand.

Only one person will be allowed to stay overnight with the patient.

Real flowers are not recommended in the hospital area.

ACCOUNT LIQUIDATION

Upon being discharged by your physician, please call the Customer Service at ext. 100 or ext. 135, to receive the bill to liquidate your account.

We kindly ask that before leaving, you give the nursing staff your discharge pass and the remote control for the T.V.
Departure time is 12:00 pm. If the room is not vacated before 12:00 pm you will be charged an extra half day until 18 hrs and then will be a full day.
The Doctor’s medical fees should be paid to the hospital cashier.
Each day there will be a running account balance given to the person responsible for the patient, so that they can make partial payments to keep the account up to date.

Payments can be made by cash, credit or debit card, electronic transfers and travellers' cheques. We do not accept personal checks. We accept Visa, MC and American Express only for payment of hospital services.
 
No credits or discounts are given to the prices established and currently in place.
If you are in doubt, the list prices are found in the area of Admissions in accordance with the Law.
There will be no price quote respected which was given by the treating physician, as to hospital expenses.
If you pass the surgical time alloted or consume extra materials, medicines and/or additional equipment not covered in the package, you will be charged according to listed prices.
All materials and / or medications that are required for treating patients during their internment, will be provided by the hospital, is strictly forbidden to bring material and / or medication with you.

PATIENTS WITH HEALTH INSURANCE

For your admission to Galenia Hospital, the policyholder or beneficiary, in addition to the suggestions of the Admission and Discharge of Patient Guide, should consider the following:

Admission procedure:

Admission with scheduled surgery or medical treatment.
On admission to Galenia Hospital submit the original Authorization Scheduling Letter for the surgery or treatment, identification card issued by the company and official identification with a photo and a guarantee of payment for personal expenses, deductibles, co-payments and any other concept that is not covered by the company. A copy of the Authorization Scheduling Letter must be delivered to your doctor or to the Physicians Cashier.
Admission for Emergency and Hospital Report
a) On admission to Galenia Hospital through the area of emergencies, after an official photo identification has been shown, and where the policyholder or beneficiary does not stay for more than 24 hours, Galenia Hospital will provide services and the insured or the beneficiary will have the obligation to pay directly to Galenia Hospital the full balance of the account, unless the company claims responsibility for paying with an Authorization Letter, then the following requirements apply.
b) On admission to Galenia Hospital through the area emergencies, if the policyholder or beneficiary remains more than 24 hours and requires hospitalization, they must present his insurance card given by the insurance company and an official identification with photo. Provide all information as requested, as well as payment of a security deposit.

• Galenia Hospital will report via telephone or fax to the insurance company at the admission of the insured or beneficiary and wait a period of 24 hours for a response from them, which will be released through an authorization or denial letter.

• When the policyholder or beneficiary does not present any of the above mentioned documents or if there is no response received from the company within 24 hours, Galenia Hospital will provide service and the insured or beneficiary will be responsible for paying Galenia Hospital directly the entirety of the account, unless a Letter of Authorization is received by Galenia Hospital before the patient is discharged.
 
• It is important that the policyholder or beneficiary is aware of the response from their insurance company. In case it is not available at the time stipulated above, we suggest that the policyholder or beneficiary call directly to their Personal Adviser at the number of Service telephone indicated in their policy.
 
Requirements for direct payment:

• 20 days before the probable date, file your authorization.
• Fill out the formats: Medical report and notice of accident or illness.
• A copy of the voters registration.
• A copy of your medical insurance card.
• Bring these documents to the area of admission (Ground Floor) for processing.

Requirements for reimbursement:

• Fill out the formats: Medical report and notice of accident or illness.
• Invoice Hospital, letter breakdown of the bill.
• Receipt of Doctor’s fees (copy of the voter credential).
• A copy of your medical insurance card.
• Breakdown of materials and medicines.

Note: The bill must go out in name of the policy holder.

If during your stay at Galenia hospital you require further information or an additional service related to insurance, we suggest you request it directly to your insurance company, which should inform you completely of the conditions of the Medical Hospital Agreement conditions, as well as payment of deductible and copayments pointed out in your policy and all of the services not covered or covered by it.

OTHER
All the Hospital staff service is here to assist you with their efficiency and availability, without needing to be tipped for their services.

We have cable TV at no additional cost.
The TV remote control must be requested from Customer Service.
For further information or clarification on our services, we are here to help at extensions 100 and 135.
To make local calls dial 9 to get a line and to call internally to an extension, mark it directly. Ask for your long distance and cellular calls to be connected through Customer Service at extensions 100 and 135.

MEDICAL DISCHARGE
When your physician sees fit to discharge you, and signs the medical discharge form, please contact Customer Service, from your room phone, at ext.100 and 135, so that they can give you your account balance, once the breakdown of your expenses are ready, you will be notified to go to make your payment with the cashier ext. 138, there you will be issued and the invoice and you will be given a discharge pass, which is to be delivered to the nursing station. In case of births, we suggest you coordinate with your pediatrician the discharge of your child.
