So says the head of the hospital’s Imaging Department, Dr. Cervera Jose Ceballos, who in addition to mastering the subspecialties of the sector, he himself is a specialist in interventional radiology and was also cardiovascular-trained at the University of Minnesota, a specialty that is used to obtain more accurate diagnoses through the introduction of catheters into the body (arteries, veins) that even allows, in many cases, to cure the patient.

"Through intervention and cardiovascular radiology- clarifies the physician –the extraction or residual litho via the sub-dermis, drainage of abscesses in kidneys, even cerebral aneurisms can be performed: This is the surgical side of radiology."
 
A member of the Radiological and Imaging Society of the Caribbean (of which he was once president), Dr. Cervera Ceballos explains that Imaging includes several different methods, such as X-Rays, Fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance, bone density analysis, among others, obviously including, three and four dimensional ultrasound.
He was also an advisor to the state of the Mexican Counsel of Radiology and Imaging-which certification he possesses-, affirms that now a days magnetic resonance is highly useful because it produces images of very precise resolution.  In fact, the hospital has a resonator of on tesla (unit to measure the potency of a magnet).
 
Dr. Cervera Ceballos-is also a permanent member of the Mexican Federation of Radiology and Imaging, a member of the Inter-American College of Radiology and the Radiology Society of North America-specifies that the tomographies preformed at Galenia Hospital are "a new generation of tomography."
The multi-cut Helicoildal Tomography machine that Galenia Hospital possesses-he explains-has six lines of cutting per each time the tube is shot and it delivers results with an extra-ordinary speed, great clarity of images and reconstruction in third dimension that that are so perfect “that even one accustomed to is surprised. This tomography machine–was the invention of a German, Haunsfield, in the sixties-it also has a navigator function inside the body, allowing, through a kind of "small T.V. Camera", see structures never seen before in this way: the lung bronchi, the walls of the colon, brain, etc., but it also measure the interior densities (Haunsfield densities).
At Galenia Hospital Doppler studies are also preformed, in other words, analysis of blood fluids from arteries and veins-applicable carotid and kidney arteries; and even in obstetrics, they are able to analyze velocities of blood flow in the umbilical cord, in the uterine arteries and in the cerebral arteries of the baby.

Radiology, in general-assures Dr. Cervera- deals more in the therapeutic field: “We are not satisfied with giving a diagnosis.  Through radiological intervention, we are entering into therapeutic areas due to the advantage of seeing the image of the exact location of the lesion, and being able to access that area without surgery, via catheters and needles: meaning, to keep invasive surgery to a minimum.

One of the great advantages of this method is that it allows us to take care of patients who are very critical- with terminal cancer, for example- that can not be operated on due to their condition, and greatly improve their quality of life.  In this health center, you can do an ablation through radiofrequency and even heal unreachable tumors.
